President John Dramani Mahama has commended Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, describing him as one of the most committed and hardworking members of his administration.

The President made the remarks on Thursday, July 16, 2026, during his Resetting Ghana Tour in the Volta Region, where he praised the North Tongu Member of Parliament for his contribution to Ghana’s diplomatic efforts.

According to President Mahama, Ablakwa has played a significant role in strengthening Ghana’s voice on the global stage, particularly through his engagements with international partners.

He noted that the Foreign Affairs Minister undertook extensive diplomatic missions to secure support from United Nations member states for the UN resolution on reparations, an initiative led by Ghana.

President Mahama explained that Ablakwa’s efforts behind the scenes helped Ghana gain the backing of 123 countries for the resolution.

He praised the minister’s dedication, saying the international recognition he has received has largely been made possible through Ablakwa’s diplomatic work.

“Your Member of Parliament, our hardworking Minister of Foreign Affairs, indeed, I must tell you that he is among my hardest-working ministers. Every credit that I have attained on the international scene, it is he that has done the legwork,” President Mahama stated.

He added that Ablakwa was instrumental in rallying support for the reparations resolution by travelling to engage various countries and secure their backing.
