The Akyem Abomosu Police Command has arrested nine suspects for their alleged involvement in narcotics-related activities, Indian hemp trading, and prostitution in the Atiwa West District of the Eastern Region.

The suspects, comprising three Nigerian women and six Ghanaian men believed to be their accomplices, were arrested during a police operation in Akyem Abomosu.

The operation, led by the Commander of the Police Forward Operating Unit (FPU), ASP Seth Ehuren, targeted areas identified as suspected hotspots for illegal narcotics activities and prostitution within the community.

According to the police, the swoop was part of efforts to clamp down on activities believed to be contributing to social vices in the area.

Items suspected to be linked to the illegal Indian hemp trade were retrieved during the operation.

The suspects are expected to appear before the Osino Magistrate Court on Friday, July 17, 2026, to face prosecution.

Nana Kofi Agyei said the operation forms part of ongoing measures by the police to combat prostitution, narcotics offences, and other related criminal activities in the Atiwa District.

He added that the police remain committed to maintaining their integrity and intensifying efforts to dismantle trafficking networks operating in the area.
