Kumasi-based footballer Richard Antwi has accused a woman identified as Genevieve of wrongly presenting him as the father of her child after a DNA test allegedly proved otherwise.

Richard made the claims on Oyerepa Afutuo, hosted by Auntie Naa, on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, where he narrated his experience and called for the recovery of what he described as the benefits and responsibilities he took on based on the disputed paternity claim.

According to Richard, he met Genevieve in 2023 and was later informed that she was pregnant. He said although he had doubts about the pregnancy, he accepted responsibility after advice from his mother, with the agreement that a DNA test would be conducted after delivery.

“My name is Antwi Richard. I’m a footballer in a Third Division team in Kumasi. I met a lady called Genevieve in 2023. I got to know her, and within six months, she told me she was pregnant. Meanwhile, it was only once that I slept with her,” he said.

Richard explained that after the child was born, he spent GH¢2,600 on a DNA test, which he claimed returned a negative result.

“I accepted the pregnancy on the condition that I would run a DNA test after her delivery. After she gave birth, I took GH¢2,600 to run a DNA test, and it proved negative. I am not the father of the child,” he stated.

The footballer said he went through financial difficulties to raise money for the test and also claimed that he took care of the child for about two years while believing he was the biological father.

“I involved myself in menial jobs before I could gather that amount to run the DNA test. I took the child, catered for her for two years, and even enrolled Genevieve in a hairdressing job,” he added.

Richard further alleged that Genevieve has been living with his mother but has failed to support with household responsibilities despite his mother’s health challenges.

“The girl stays with my mother but does nothing in the house. My mother is even asthmatic, but she still won’t help her with house chores,” he claimed.

He said he has reported the matter to Genevieve’s family but has not received the response he expected.

Richard is now seeking redress and wants the issue resolved, including what he describes as the return of the benefits and responsibilities he assumed based on the paternity claim.
