Floodwaters invade Reggie Rockstone’s residence after torrential Accra downpour

Ghanaian hiplife pioneer Reginald Yaw Asante Osei, popularly known as Reggie Rockstone, has become one of the many residents counting their losses after severe flooding swept through parts of Accra following Monday’s prolonged rainfall.

The veteran musician revealed the extent of the damage by sharing videos on his social media platforms, where floodwater could be seen flowing into his home and covering large portions of the property. Some belongings within the compound also appeared to have been affected as water levels rose during the downpour.

His experience mirrors that of thousands of residents across the capital who were caught off guard by the intense rainfall on Monday, June 29, 2026. Several communities were inundated, with homes, shops and other properties submerged after drains and waterways overflowed.

The flooding also caused major traffic disruptions on several roads, leaving motorists and commuters stranded for hours while emergency responders and residents worked to navigate the worsening conditions.

Widely regarded as the “Godfather of Hiplife,” Reggie Rockstone has played a pioneering role in shaping Ghana’s music industry by blending hip-hop with local languages and cultural influences. His latest ordeal has drawn attention to the reality that the recurring floods continue to affect people from all walks of life, regardless of status.
