Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Adeshina, popularly known as Elegbeje Ado, has passed away.

The actor, who was also a pastor, died on Monday, June 29, 2026, after a brief illness. He was 66 years old.

His death was confirmed in an Instagram post on Tuesday by the founder of the Best of Nollywood Awards, Seun Oloketuyi.

In the post, Oloketuyi described him as a respected figure in the Yoruba film industry and a beloved Nollywood icon.

“It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Pastor Taiwo Adeshina, a beloved Nollywood legend,” he wrote.

He added that Adeshina’s contributions to the Yoruba movie industry and the lives he impacted would be remembered.

“Your remarkable contributions to the Yoruba movie industry and the lives you touched will never be forgotten. May God grant you eternal rest and comfort your family, friends, and fans. Rest in peace, legend,” the statement read.

Adeshina is remembered for his significant role in the growth of Yoruba cinema and his influence both on and off the screen.
