Afia Schwarzenegger seeks fund for Florence Obinim’s car and divorce support

Media personality Afia Schwarzenegger has stirred public conversation after urging Ghanaians to rally behind Florence Obinim, the wife of religious leader Bishop Daniel Obinim, by raising funds to support her independence and personal growth.

During a live session on TikTok, Afia Schwarzenegger argued that Florence Obinim should not be left to depend solely on her husband for financial stability or basic needs. She proposed that the public collectively contribute resources to help her acquire a vehicle and rebuild her life with greater autonomy.

According to her, “Let’s contribute and buy a car for Florence Obinim. We should not wait for Obinim. I do not know who to trust, but let’s contribute to get this done.”

She further escalated her proposal by suggesting that financial assistance should also be provided to Florence Obinim if she chooses to legally end her marriage. In her words, “We should also raise money for her to take to court if she decides to divorce Obinim. Let’s give her a fresh start, support her career, and buy her a luxury car that no man has ever bought for a woman.”

Afia Schwarzenegger emphasized that her call is rooted in what she sees as protection and empowerment for women in difficult marriages. She insisted that no woman should remain in a relationship where she feels undervalued or disrespected, adding that society must step in where necessary to offer support and alternatives.

She concluded with a strong warning that women facing marital challenges would increasingly receive public backing, stating, “We will not allow anyone to disrespect our sister again. If a woman is not treated well in her marriage, we will support her to move on.”

The remarks have since sparked mixed reactions online, with some applauding her advocacy for women’s independence while others criticize the idea of public fundraising for private marital matters.
