Ken Agyapong donates pickup, 15 motorbikes to accra Police and Pickup, incubators to 37 Military hospital on birthday
Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, former MP for Assin Central, has donated a pickup vehicle and 15 motorbikes to the Accra Regional Police Command to support policing and security operations.
He also presented a pickup vehicle and incubators to the 37 Military Hospital to improve healthcare delivery.
Mr. Agyapong said the donations were made on his birthday as his “widow’s mite” to appreciate institutions that serve Ghanaians. He emphasized that the gesture was not political, but a way to support committed officers and health workers who sacrifice for the nation.
According to Mr. Agyapong, the donation is in appreciation of three SWAT officers who have provided him security for the past four years.
“I am a Ghanaian and I must help. We have to support committed police officers. If you recognize their sacrifice, you don’t bring politics into it. That is why today, on my birthday, I’m here to give my widow’s mite and show appreciation, especially to the three young men who have protected me for the past four years,” he said.
He explained that the pickup will be presented to the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), while the 15 motorbikes will go to the Bravo Unit.
Mr. Agyapong thanked the officers present, noting that although Tuesday is a busy duty day, they suspended their work to receive the donation.
Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, COP Duuti Tuaruka, received the items and thanked Hon. Agyapong. He assured that the vehicles would be used solely for policing and patrols to fight crime in the city.
“We assure you this gesture will not be used for private purposes. You won’t see the vehicle picking children or doing domestic work. We will use it to improve security. That is our assurance to you,” COP Tuaruka said.
He added that the donation, made to coincide with Mr. Agyapong’s birthday, is a clear sign of his love for humanity and support for security.
