“I cut off Benedicta Gafah because of Florence” — Obinim causes stir
Founder and leader of the International God’s Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim, has continued to stir conversation online following a series of emotional remarks about his marriage and family life.
The outspoken Ghanaian preacher, whose recent funeral comments generated widespread reactions on social media, has now opened up about his relationship with actress Benedicta Gafah and why he decided to cut ties with her after a reported misunderstanding involving his wife, gospel musician Florence Obinim.
Rumours about a romantic relationship between Bishop Daniel Obinim and Benedicta Gafah have circulated for years, particularly after allegations made by politician Kennedy Agyapong in 2020. Although Benedicta Gafah denied the claims, the speculation resurfaced in 2025 after old photos and videos linked to Obinim went viral online. The controversy later created tension involving Florence Obinim, who publicly defended her marriage. In June 2026, Bishop Obinim revealed that he blocked and cut ties with Benedicta Gafah because of misunderstandings between her and his wife.
Speaking before his congregation in a video circulating online on June 12, 2026, Daniel Obinim said he was deeply unhappy with the tension and public exchanges surrounding the issue between Benedicta Gafah and Florence Obinim.
According to him, the situation forced him to distance himself from the actress because he believed his wife had been disrespected.
“How many men in this world can publicly say that they have only one wife?
“The very day I heard that our sister Benedicta Gafah had some misunderstanding with Florence Obinim, I was hurt by the way she disrespected Florence, so I blocked her,” he said.
Bishop Obinim further stressed that Florence remains the only woman in his life, insisting that he is among the few men who can boldly make such a claim publicly.
His latest remarks come shortly after controversial comments he made about his funeral arrangements, where he stated that only his children and church members should oversee his burial rites if he dies. The comments triggered reactions from both social media users and Florence Obinim herself, further placing the couple’s marriage under public scrutiny.
