C/R: Okada Rider drowns while attempting to save 17-year-old BECE graduate
A 33-year-old electrician and Okada rider, identified as Gideon, has drowned in the Adjei River near the Nurses’ Quarters area of Domeabra in the Obom Constituency of the Ga South Municipality in the Greater Accra Region.
According to reports, the deceased lost his life while attempting to rescue a 17-year-old boy who had fallen into the river and was drowning.
Although Gideon successfully saved the teenager, he reportedly became trapped in the water and subsequently drowned.
Speaking in an interview with Nana Ansah, an eyewitness, Kwesi Godfred said Gideon was a well-known electrician in the community who courageously entered the river to save the boy.
He explained that after rescuing the teenager, Gideon encountered difficulties in the water and was unable to make it back to safety.
According to him, the deceased’s body was retrieved on the morning of June 10, 2026, at Amamfrom, popularly known as “Nsuo Ano.”
He added that the body had visible bruises on the face.
Meanwhile, Madam Comfort Adjei, an aunt of the deceased, has appealed to the public, philanthropists, and organisations to support the family in caring for the children Gideon left behind.
According to her, the family depended heavily on the deceased for their livelihood, and his sudden death has created a significant burden on them.
She therefore appealed to the public to come to their aid and help support the children through this difficult period.
