Founder and leader of the International God’s Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim, has stirred widespread reactions after publicly revealing how he wants his funeral arrangements to be handled when he dies.

During a sermon before his congregation, the controversial Ghanaian preacher made it clear that only his biological children and members of his church, popularly referred to as the “Abroso Family,” should take charge of his burial rites.

He said, “Let this June 4, 2026, video be on record. When I die, only my biological children and the Abroso Family (his church congregants) should bury me.”

Bishop Obinim announced that he had excluded not only his extended family but also his wife, gospel musician Florence Obinim, from overseeing his funeral arrangements.

“I have excluded my family, including my wife, Florence. Do you know how marriage is? Never place your expectations on marriage,” he said.

The preacher went further to caution members of his family against interfering in decisions surrounding his funeral, particularly regarding dates and organization.

“I am telling you today that the day I die, no member of the Obinim family should come close to my funeral. Don’t come and fight over dates. You may attend, but don’t come and do what you like,” he declared.

He maintained that the responsibility for all funeral arrangements should remain solely with his biological children and church members, excluding his wife.

“The only people who can fix my funeral dates and make arrangements are my biological family and the Abroso Family. If I die before my wife, she should not be part of the funeral arrangements,” he stressed.

Bishop Obinim, known for his unconventional sermons and controversial public pronouncements, did not explain in detail what may have informed the decision. However, his comments about marriage and expectations have since generated intense discussion among church members and social media users.

The preacher has remained one of Ghana’s most talked-about religious figures over the years, often making headlines for statements and actions that spark national debate. His latest declaration has once again drawn attention to his personal life and relationships with family members while also raising conversations about funeral control, marriage dynamics, and inheritance within public and religious families.
