Former Shatta Movement Militant, Addi Self, has shared new insights into an incident he believes played a significant role in the breakdown of his relationship with dancehall artiste Shatta Wale.

Speaking in a resurfaced interview, Addi Self recounted an episode in which he was allegedly instructed by Shatta Wale to go live on social media and criticize rapper Kweku Smoke, following tensions that had emerged between the rapper and the SM camp.

According to him, the situation developed during his active time within the Militants group. He explained that Kweku Smoke had earlier visited the camp as a young artiste seeking to build connections within the industry. However, the relationship between the parties later became strained after public comments surfaced.

“Two months later, Kweku Smoke was on live video saying Shatta had stolen his song,” Addi Self recalled.

He noted that the accusation came as a surprise and heightened tensions surrounding the situation. Addi Self further claimed that he was subsequently asked to join the online backlash against the rapper.

However, he said he was uncomfortable with the request due to his lack of personal relationship with Kweku Smoke.

“I told one Don, I don’t even know this person because when he came he was not introduced to me, and I don’t know him so I don’t want to get involved in this,” he said.

According to Addi Self, his refusal to take part in the alleged directive did not sit well with Shatta Wale, a reaction he believes marked the beginning of growing tension between them.

He added that this moment became one of several disagreements that eventually weakened their relationship and contributed to his exit from the camp.

The revelation adds yet another layer to the long-standing conversations surrounding the internal dynamics of the Militants group and the evolving relationships between its former members and Shatta Wale.
