“We’ve been in touch” — Fella denies ignoring Drogba
Actress Fella Makafui has responded to claims by fellow actor John Peasah, popularly known as Drogba, that she failed to personally support him following his illness.
In an interview published on May 29, 2026, Drogba alleged that Fella did not directly reach out to him when news of his condition became public. He claimed that during the early stages of his illness, she contacted actor Jeffery Nortey to enquire about his wellbeing instead of speaking to him personally.
According to Drogba, Jeffery Nortey was surprised by the move because he believed Fella already had his personal contact details. Drogba further stated that Fella later reached out to him using a different phone number and asked when he would be available, but he never heard from her again after responding.
He said: “Fella Makafui hasn’t reached out. When the thing came, she reached out to Jeffery Nortey. She has my number, so Jeffery Nortey was surprised. Later, she reached out to me with a different number and asked me when I was free. I told her I am always free, and since then, I haven’t heard from her.”
Drogba also revealed that he had reached out to several colleagues in the film industry, including Salma Mumin, Kisa Gbekle, and John Dumelo, but said he had not received any assistance from them.
Reacting to the claims, Fella Makafui dismissed the suggestion that she had not been in contact with Drogba. Commenting under a TikTok post of the interview, the actress expressed surprise at the allegations and indicated that they had communicated recently.
She wrote: “I hope this video is not new because that would be surprising. We’ve been communicating lately, for anyone asking.”
Ghanaian actor John Bredu Peasah, popularly known as Drogba for his role in the television series You Only Live Once (YOLO), was diagnosed with a demyelinating disease in March 2024. The condition affects the protective covering of nerve fibres, causing symptoms such as vision problems, pain, and respiratory difficulties.
He has since been undergoing treatment for the condition and has launched a GoFundMe campaign seeking to raise $280,000 to fund medical treatment abroad.
