C/R: Seven WASSCE candidates denied entry to exam centre at Kasoa

Seven candidates sitting for the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), comprising six males and one female, were denied entry into an examination centre at Kasoa in the Central Region after arriving 40 minutes late for their Integrated Science paper.

The affected candidates were scheduled to write the examination at Odupong Senior High School, located at Jei River in Kasoa. However, they explained that transportation challenges prevented them from arriving on time.

The candidates said they travelled from Spintex in Accra to Kasoa for the examination. During the journey, the vehicle transporting them reportedly broke down, forcing them to continue the trip using commercial transport, commonly known as “trotro.”

Despite their efforts to reach the centre, they arrived 40 minutes after the examination had begun and were subsequently denied entry into the exam hall by officials of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).

Officials at the centre cited examination regulations on lateness as the reason for refusing them entry.

Six of the candidates are from High Chris Senior High School, a private school in Kasoa, while the remaining candidate is from Odupong Senior High School.
