Ghanaian rapper, singer, and producer born Thomas Adjei Wireko and popularly known in showbiz as King Paluta, has made history again after one of his songs, “Makoma,” was featured in a university examination paper.

In a recent Psychology examination conducted for students at the University of Ghana, King Paluta’s song appeared as Question 1. The examination paper, from the Department of Psychology’s PSYC333: Psychology of Personality course during the 2025/2026 First Semester Examinations, used the musician’s hit song “Makoma” as the basis for one of the questions.

The question asked candidates to discuss the psychology of personality reflected in the song “Makoma,” drawing on theories studied during the semester.

Professor Enoch Teye-Kwadjo set the paper for distance education students. Candidates were given two hours to answer any two out of the four questions, with all questions carrying equal marks.

Earlier, in the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), the Creative Arts paper included questions asking students to identify two major social issues addressed in King Paluta’s hit song “Aseda.” That development faced criticism from some members of the public, who argued that the Akan language used in the song could create a language barrier for students who did not understand it.

The criticism prompted John Kapi, Head of Public Affairs at West African Examinations Council, to defend the decision during a radio interview.

Appearing in examination papers for the second time highlights how King Paluta is making good use of his talent and the impact he is having both locally and internationally.

King Paluta is not the only artiste whose works have been recognized in academic settings. Artistes such as Amerado, Black Sherif, Okyeame Kwame, Agya Koo Nimo and James Varrick Armaah have also had their works featured in various examinations and fields of study.
