I lied to protect my husband — Woman shares painful marriage story
A married woman has cried out over the alleged mistreatment she suffered at the hands of her husband in their matrimonial home, which she claims led to the untimely termination of her pregnancy.
On Monday, May 18, 2026, a woman identified as Fulera told Auntie Naa on Oyerepa Afutuo that her husband, Nasiru, had been treating her badly.
According to Fulera, her husband once returned home from work and noticed that his phone number had been written on the wall of their room. He questioned both of his wives about who had written it, but each denied responsibility. As a result, he allegedly ordered both women to remain outside until one confessed.
She said, “I lied to protect my husband because I do not like people knowing about my private issues. I am even shy speaking publicly, and I also did not have money to pursue a police case.”
According to Fulera, the bleeding stopped for a few days but later resumed and continued for twenty-two days. Despite medical advice, she alleged that her husband continued to maltreat her. Instead of taking her back to the hospital, he reportedly gave her herbal concoctions to drink while the bleeding persisted.
Days later, the pain and bleeding became severe, prompting her to seek help from outsiders financially before returning to the hospital. She said scans later revealed that she had been pregnant with twins, had lost one during the miscarriage, and the second baby had died in her womb. Doctors reportedly recommended immediate surgery, but she claimed her husband instructed her to follow other directives instead of prioritizing her health.
She later underwent a D&C procedure. Despite everything, she said the alleged maltreatment worsened after the first wife gave birth.
Fulera further stated that when she informed her family about the situation, they advised her to remain silent.
“My family told me to keep quiet and think about my own life if I value it. They said the children belong to him, so if they die, that is his problem,” she recounted.
According to Fulera, she has decided to remain in the marriage and focus solely on her children, although she claims her husband now wants her out of the house. She is therefore seeking the intervention of Auntie Naa and her team.
