Tension has escalated at Domeabra in the Ga South Municipality following a demolition exercise that has affected more than 1,000 structures.
According to a report by Nana Ansah, personnel from the Police SWAT unit fired warning shots to disperse angry residents who attempted to attack excavators and security officers supervising the exercise.
The demolition is being carried out by a company linked to Mr. Fredrick Kofi Asare, who claims ownership of the land.

In an interview, the company’s representative, Dr. Henry Addo, stated that they have obtained legal backing from both the High Court and the Supreme Court to undertake the demolition.
He urged residents to remain calm and allow the exercise to proceed, adding that the company is open to negotiations with affected persons.
Meanwhile, some affected residents told Nana Ansah they were neither informed nor given prior notice before the exercise began.

Several structures, including a hospital, residential buildings, and shops, have been demolished.
The situation has created serious tension in Domeabra and nearby Denkyira, both within the Ga South Municipality, as police maintain a heavy presence to restore calm.
However, the Municipal Chief Executive for Ga South Municipality, Moses Ocansey, has said he will engage the company to determine how the issue can be resolved.
He has urged residents to remain calm, assuring them that the assembly will address the matter.
