Traders at the Odawna Market staged a demonstration on to call on government and the Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly to complete the stalled Circle-Odawna drainage system.
The traders described the current drainage at the market as a “death trap,” saying the area floods whenever it rains within the municipality.
Speaking to reporters, Diana Adjei Kortey, Odawna Market Queen Mother pleaded with government, the Member of Parliament for the area, and the Municipal Assembly to complete the drainage project, which has been halted for some time.

“We are appealing to them to finish the Odawna drainage before we enter the rainy season,” she said.
According to her, the lack of a proper drainage system is affecting businesses, with some shop owners forced to shut down due to high interest rates on loans they cannot repay amid poor sales.
Several traders further expressed their frustration, urging the authorities to prioritize the construction and completion of the drainage system at Odawna Market.
