A 42-year-old herbalist, Mohammed Hamidu, has been arrested at the Kasoa Central Business District Police Station for allegedly attempting to smuggle hacksaw blades hidden in a loaf of bread to a suspected armed robber in police custody.
According to reports, the suspect attempted to deliver the concealed items to a remand prisoner, Cephas Bubune Sisiawovor, who is currently being held at the station in connection with a robbery case.
Police sources indicate that the incident occurred on April 14, 2026, at about 8:00 p.m. Officers on duty at the charge office became suspicious when Mohammed presented food items, including six bottles of carbonated drinks and a loaf of bread allegedly meant for the detainee.

A thorough search of the items revealed two new hacksaw blades carefully concealed inside the bread.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the remand prisoner had earlier instructed Mohammed during a previous visit to collect the items from an individual identified as Emmanuel, said to be near the Lucky Herbal Clinic in Kasoa.
Mohammed Hamidu is currently in police custody assisting with investigations, while efforts are underway to locate and arrest Emmanuel, who is now on the run.
