DSP Bawah Abdul Jalil, leader of the IGP’s Special Operations Team, has been removed from his position as investigations continue into an alleged assault involving him and members of his team.
Jalil and other officers are under investigation for allegedly assaulting renowned artist Ibrahim Mahama.
A formal handover ceremony was held at the National Police Training School in Accra on April 7, 2026, to mark the change in leadership of the Special Operations Team. DSP Jalil officially transferred command responsibilities to the new Commander, Superintendent Augustine Dawson Amoah, who will be assisted by three senior officers.
In his farewell remarks, DSP Jalil urged team members to fully support the new leadership to ensure operational continuity and effectiveness.
Superintendent Amoah, in his address, pledged committed and effective leadership, emphasizing the need for unity, discipline, and professionalism in carrying out the team’s duties.
