A police officer has died and two others were injured after a Police mini-KIA Rhino truck lost control on the Somanya–Adukrom highway at Aseseso in the Eastern Region.
The incident occurred on Saturday, March 21, 2026, while the vehicle was travelling from Begoro to Ashaiman. The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) from the Kpong Municipal Fire Station responded to the scene.
According to the GNFS, the truck, which was carrying three police personnel, veered off the road while descending the Aseseso hill. Preliminary reports indicate that a fault with the vehicle’s gear lever caused the driver to lose control.
The driver, a police officer, died at the scene, while the two injured colleagues were rescued and taken to the Yilo Krobo District Hospital for medical treatment.
Authorities are investigating the incident to determine the full circumstances surrounding the accident.
