Police in Accra have arrested four men for their alleged involvement in an assault at Ashongman Estate during an attempt to recover a loan from a resident.
The arrests were carried out by the Kwabenya District Police Command after a complaint was filed by the victim, Madam Hagar Emaser, a 42-year-old resident of the area.
According to the police, Madam Emaser reported on March 13, 2026, that four men believed to be officials of Bills Microfinance visited her home to demand repayment of a loan she had obtained from the company. During the encounter, the suspects allegedly assaulted her while attempting to retrieve the money.
The suspects were arrested the following day, March 14, 2026. They have been identified as Denis Wornyo, 38; Albert Amarh, 40; Ebenezer Amartei, 23; and Atsu Lawson, 27.
The Accra Regional Police Command stated that caution statements have been taken from the suspects as part of ongoing investigations. They are currently in police custody assisting police with the probe.
Police have urged members of the public who experience assault or other criminal acts to report such incidents promptly to the authorities to ensure swift investigation and appropriate action.
The command also advised individuals involved in loan disputes or other civil matters to seek lawful and peaceful channels to resolve their grievances.
