Ghana, Nigeria to Tackle Cybercrime Through Bilateral Cooperation

The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP), met with the Nigerian High Commissioner, Ambassador Ibok-Ete Ekwe Iban, to discuss ways to address the high incidence of Nigerians involved in cybercrime in Ghana.

The meeting, held on February 16, 2026, aimed to review the outcomes of Ghana’s recent crackdown on cybercrime and explore avenues for enhanced cooperation to safeguard the digital space.

Ambassador Ibok-Ete Ekwe Iban expressed concern over the arrests and pledged to address the root causes, emphasizing the need to protect law-abiding Nigerians while strengthening border security.

He also highlighted the strong relationship between Ghana and Nigeria and urged Nigerians to serve as good ambassadors of their country.

The meeting underscored the commitment of both nations to combat cybercrime and promote a secure digital environment.
