The Government of Ghana has confirmed that a truck transporting Ghanaian tomato traders was caught up in a terrorist attack in Titao, a town in northern Burkina Faso.
In a statement issued by the Minister for the Interior and National Security, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, the incident was said to have occurred on Saturday, February 14, 2026.
The truck, which was conveying traders engaged in the tomato business, was reportedly affected during the attack. However, the exact number of victims and their conditions have not yet been officially confirmed.
The Minister described the development as disturbing and assured the public that the Government is working diligently to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
He disclosed that Ghana’s Embassy in Burkina Faso is in contact with the Burkinabe authorities and coordinating efforts to visit the scene to gather firsthand information. The mission will also seek to identify any Ghanaian nationals who may have been affected.
Government officials say the situation is being closely monitored, and further updates will be provided as soon as verified information becomes available.
