A member of the Central Regional Communications Team of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), identified as King Eric, has been arrested following a dispute on a WhatsApp platform involving the Member of Parliament for Kasoa, Naana Koryoo Okunor, her husband, Yussif, and another individual.
According to sources, the disagreement occurred on a WhatsApp group used by party members, and tensions reportedly escalated after exchanges between King Eric, the MP’s husband, and another participant.
The arrest allegedly took place around 6:00 p.m. when about six armed police officers reportedly stormed King Eric’s residence. Witnesses described the operation as forceful, though the police have not officially commented on the circumstances of the arrest or revealed who filed the complaint.
While no formal statement has confirmed the complainant, party sources suggest that the Vice Chairman of the NDC in Awutu Senya East (Kasoa), Alhaji Osman, along with the MP’s husband, Yussif, may have been involved.
King Eric has since been granted bail as investigations continue.
At a press conference, NDC Organizer for the Awutu Senya East Constituency, Daniel Takyi, called for calm among party members and urged all sides to allow due process to take its course.
Deputy Communications Officer for the party in Kasoa, Cobby Wilson, described the arrest as an act of intimidation and warned that the party would speak out against any actions that undermine its members or the reputation of the Constituency Chairman.
The police have confirmed that investigations are ongoing.
