A major fire has razed hundreds of shops and mechanic workshops at Sofoline Magazine in the Kwadaso Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
The blaze started around 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 25, 2026, engulfing numerous structures, including repair workshops and vehicles under maintenance, and destroying large quantities of spare parts, equipment, and merchandise.
Firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service responded promptly and were able to contain the fire, preventing it from spreading to neighboring properties.
While no injuries have been reported, many shop owners and mechanics have suffered significant losses as a result of the incident.
Authorities have launched investigations to determine the cause of the fire.
