Former Forestry Commission official Charles Owusu has praised former President John Dramani Mahama for what he describes as a renewed display of humility and respect toward workers at the Jubilee House.
Speaking on Peace FM Owusu said he was particularly impressed by Mahama’s decision to personally visit every office within the Presidency to wish staff a Happy New Year, describing the gesture as rare and commendable.
“One thing President Mahama has done that makes me very happy is how he went round all the offices at the Jubilee House to greet workers and wish them a Happy New Year. That is very impressive. Often, when people attain such high offices, they tend to overlook those who work under them,” he said.
Owusu called on ministers, chief executive officers, Members of Parliament and other public officials to emulate Mahama’s example by showing humility and respect to their subordinates.
He also observed what he believes is a noticeable change in Mahama’s disposition compared to his earlier time in office, especially in the way he handles criticism.
“I have realised that Mahama has changed this time. In the past, he sometimes responded to criticism in a cynical manner, but now he appears calmer and more receptive,” he noted.
Owusu expressed hope that the President would sustain this attitude throughout his tenure, adding, “We pray that these positive traits will not fade after the first year in office.”
