Actor and businessman Kwaku Manu has shared details of his long-standing efforts, alongside others, to support veteran hiplife artiste Okomfour Kwadee, who has been battling mental health challenges.

Speaking in an interview with ZionFelix, Kwaku Manu revealed that Kwadee’s support network dates back several years and largely began with a woman named Abena Manu, who manages the rehabilitation centre where the musician once received treatment.

According to him, during a period when Kwadee disappeared from public view and his whereabouts were unknown, he was actually undergoing rehabilitation under the care of Abena Manu. After his recovery, the artiste made a brief return to the music scene.

Kwaku Manu explained that when Kwadee later relapsed, he maintained contact with Abena Manu to explore ways of helping him again. He noted that although earlier incidents involving Kwadee had brought embarrassment to her, making her initially reluctant to assist, she eventually agreed because of her genuine concern for the musician’s wellbeing.

He added that some elders later intervened and facilitated Kwadee’s return to the rehabilitation centre for further treatment.

The actor said his contribution during the process was largely financial, ensuring Kwadee’s basic needs were met.
“At the end of every month, I would send money to support his feeding and other necessities, and that alone gave me a sense of fulfilment,” he stated.

Kwaku Manu further disclosed that discussions with Abena Manu revealed the need for Kwadee to have his own accommodation near the rehab centre. This, he said, would allow the artiste easy access to treatment while also enabling him to socialise within the community to keep his mind active.

He revealed that he provided GH¢20,000 to secure accommodation for Kwadee. Fortunately, when it came time to furnish the house, additional support came in.

Kwadee later performed at a show in Kumasi and at singer Sista Afia’s 10-year anniversary celebration in the music industry on January 3, 2026, helping him raise some funds. Kwaku Manu also acknowledged financial support from the CEO of Joy Daddy, which further helped stabilise the situation.
