The Awutu Jei-Krodua District Police Command has arrested a man believed to be in his late 30s for allegedly killing his girlfriend at Awutu Yamoah Nkwanta in the Awutu Senya West District of the Central Region.
The deceased, identified only as Yaa, was found lying in a pool of blood, with a concrete block placed on her head.
According to police sources, the suspect, a resident of Oboman in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, had visited the deceased to spend the night. An argument reportedly ensued after the woman allegedly refused his sexual advances.
Information gathered by Oyerepa News correspondent Nana Ansah indicates that the suspect first inflicted cutlass wounds on the victim’s face before smashing her head with a concrete block, leading to her death.
Confirming the incident in an interview with Nana Ansah, the Chief of Awutu Yamoah Nkwanta and Ogyahene of the Awutu Traditional Council, Nai Achiene Acheampong Kuma, said the suspect brutally attacked and killed the woman.
He stated that upon receiving information about the incident, he immediately alerted the Jei-Krodua and Kasoa Ofaakor District Police Commands, which led to the swift arrest of the suspect.
Nai Achiene Acheampong Kuma further disclosed that the suspect is currently in police custody, while the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary. Investigations are ongoing to identify the deceased and trace her family members formally.
