The Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East, Mahama Naser Toure, has passed away after a brief illness.
He died at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, where he had been receiving medical care.
Mr Toure was serving his fourth term in Parliament and was an active member of several key parliamentary committees. He held the position of Vice Chairman of the Energy Committee and also served on the Roads and Transport Committee, the House Committee, as well as the Private Members’ Bills and Motions Committee.
The death of the legislator was confirmed by the Second Deputy Majority Whip, Richard Acheampong, who disclosed that Mr Toure would be laid to rest today at his residence in Nima, Accra, in accordance with Islamic burial rites.
Tributes are expected to pour in from colleagues and constituents in recognition of his years of service in Parliament and contributions to national development.
