Kasoa: Six-Year-Old Boy Drowns in Uncovered Water Tank

A tragic incident occurred in Kasoa Walantu, Awutu Senya East Municipality, as six-year-old Godfred Aboagye lost his life after drowning in an uncovered water storage tank at his family’s rented home.

According to reports, the boy fell into the tank while trying to retrieve his ball. Godfred was the firstborn of his parents, who lived in the same house.

The fire service retrieved the boy’s body, which was subsequently taken to the police mortuary for further investigations.

Commenting on the tragedy, Nana Kofi Ahomka, Ebusuapani of Gomoa Fetteh, confirmed the incident and noted that the child might have been saved if the fire service had arrived earlier.

He also expressed concern over the widespread presence of uncovered water storage tanks in the area, urging the police, local assembly members, and the environmental health department to take decisive action against households with uncovered tanks to prevent similar accidents.
