A 42-year-old car sprayer, Albert Sam, popularly known as Kwame Sam, has allegedly been killed and dumped at Winneba by suspected car dealers from whom he bought a vehicle in Accra.
Information gathered indicates that the deceased was a native of Gomoa Postsin in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region, but was working as a car sprayer in Cape Coast.
According to family members, Albert Sam left Cape Coast on Friday to purchase a car he had been following on social media. After successfully buying the vehicle in Accra, he was expected to return the same day, but failed to do so on both Friday and Saturday.
Sources say that while he was driving back towards Cape Coast, upon reaching the outskirts of Winneba, the alleged car dealers contacted him and asked him to stop, claiming they had left some items in the car. Unaware of their intentions, he complied.
Further information indicates that when the suspects arrived, they lured the deceased into a nearby bush, allegedly killed him, and made away with the car.
Speaking in an interview, the deceased’s uncle, Charles Odoom, popularly known as Kofi 2, said a relative had earlier informed friends that Albert Sam had received the car and was driving back to Cape Coast, but he never arrived.
Mr. Odoom has appealed to the Central Regional Police Command and the Winneba Divisional Police Command to fast-track investigations and arrest the suspects involved in the killing.
The deceased, who was married with four children, had his body deposited at the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital pending further investigations.
