The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has strongly condemned the reported existence of a secret government WhatsApp group allegedly created to undermine the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
According to the party’s National Organizer, Nana Boakye, the group is said to include officers from the OSP, security institutions, representatives from the Supreme Court, journalists, and civil society organizations (CSOs).
Speaking on Joy FM’s News File on December 6, 2025, Nana Boakye claimed that the Director of Communication Strategy and Research at the OSP had disclosed the existence of the group, which he said was being used to coordinate actions meant to sabotage the OSP’s work — a development he described as completely unacceptable.
The NPP is therefore calling for a thorough audit to establish whether confidential information has been improperly shared and to ensure that appropriate administrative or legal sanctions are applied where necessary.
Nana Boakye added that the alleged revelations fuel growing concerns that some influential actors in the media and civil society may not be operating independently, a situation that could erode public trust in national oversight, fairness, and accountability systems.
