The Eastern South Regional Police Command has arrested a 37-year-old carpenter, Kwame Arhin, also known as Abompe, in connection with the murder of a security guard in Kibi.
The suspect was apprehended on Sunday, November 16, 2025, after being found hiding in a bush near the Kibi Presbyterian College of Education.
According to a statement from the Regional Police Command, officers received a distress call on Saturday, November 15, reporting the alleged killing of a man in Kibi Newtown. A team of detectives, including members of the Crime Scene Management Unit, was immediately deployed to the scene near the Kibi Court Complex.
Upon arrival, police discovered the body of an adult male, later identified as Jonas Baah Sarpong, a security guard at the Kibi Presbyterian College of Education. The body was initially taken to the Kibi Government Hospital morgue before being transferred to the Police Hospital in Accra for preservation and autopsy.
Preliminary investigations indicate that a dispute between the deceased and the suspect escalated, leading Arhin to allegedly slash Sarpong’s throat with a cutlass before fleeing.
Arhin was arrested the following day and is currently in police custody awaiting court processing. Authorities say investigations into the incident are ongoing.
