Galamsey Fight: You are worse than us – NPP slams NDC
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of hypocrisy in the fight against illegal mining, also known as galamsey.
According to Justin Kodua Frimpong, General Secretary of the NPP, the NDC’s claims of being serious about tackling galamsey are unfounded, given the current state of the menace in the country.
The NPP has extended an olive branch to the NDC, calling for a collaborative effort to combat galamsey. Frimpong emphasized that the NPP’s doors are always open to discussing a comprehensive roadmap to tackle the issue, devoid of politics.
Speaking at a press conference, Frimpong countered that the NDC’s stance is hypocritical, given their current position of power and access to state institutions and security agencies.
“When NDC was in opposition, they claimed it was the NPP’s responsibility to fight galamsey since they were in government. Now that the NDC is in government with access to state institutions, security agencies, and overwhelming support, including from the judiciary, the state of galamsey has worsened.”
According to him, It’s clear that the NDC has failed to effectively tackle the issue despite having all the necessary resources and support.
