The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has confirmed the deaths of five people following a tragic road accident at Asikuma Junction in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region.
In a statement on its official Facebook page, the GNFS said the Peki Fire Station received a distress call about the crash and immediately dispatched a rescue team.
The team, led by AstnO Fred Aganu and accompanied by Acting District Fire Officer ADO I Godwin Gbedemah, responded promptly to the scene.
The accident involved a grey Toyota Noah (registration GX 422-25) and a tipper truck (registration GT 725-19). Preliminary reports indicate that nine people were involved.
Four survivors, including a child, were rescued and transported to Peki Government Hospital by the National Ambulance Service for treatment.
Tragically, five individuals were confirmed dead at the scene. Their bodies were handed over to the police for further investigation and necessary procedures.
The GNFS commended the swift coordination between the Fire Service, the National Ambulance Service, and the Ghana Police Service, which ensured that victims received immediate attention and the scene was safely managed.
