Former President John Dramani Mahama has paid glowing tribute to the late Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, describing her as a woman whose remarkable legacy continues to inspire generations, particularly women and children across Ghana.
Speaking after visiting the Rawlings family with his wife, Lordina, Mr. Mahama said Ghana remains proud of her accomplishments as First Lady and mother of the nation.
“While we mourn her passing, we also celebrate her life and the lasting impact she made,” he stated, adding that her death was especially difficult as it came at a time when the nation was preparing to honour former President Jerry John Rawlings.
“It has been unsettling that you passed away just as we were preparing to mark the fifth anniversary and conduct funeral rites for our former President, Jerry John Rawlings.”
Highlighting her nationwide influence, President Mahama stated; “As the founder and President of the 31st December Women’s Movement, evidence of her achievements and the impact on the masses, particularly women and children, is abundant across the country.”
He emphasised that the entire country owes her a deep sense of gratitude for her contributions to national progress and social development.
“May her soul rest in peace,” he concluded.
