Flagbearer aspirants of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have successfully drawn their positions on the ballot paper ahead of the party’s presidential primary slated for January 31, 2026.
The balloting exercise, held on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the NPP headquarters in Accra, was conducted under the supervision of the National Elections Committee, in accordance with the party’s electoral guidelines issued on July 29.
At the end of the draw, Kennedy Agyapong, former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, picked the first position, securing the top spot on the ballot.
Dr. Bryan Acheampong, former Minister for Agriculture, drew the second slot, while former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, considered a leading contender in the race, picked the third position.
Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, former Minister of Education, selected the fourth position, with Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, the party’s former General Secretary, drawing the fifth and final spot.
The balloting marks a key step in the NPP’s internal process to elect a flagbearer for the 2026 general elections, as the party moves closer to determining who will lead it into the next national contest.
