Fifteen out of the 23 New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament (MPs) from the Eastern Region have declared their support for former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in his bid to lead the party into the 2028 general elections.
The endorsement was announced during Dr. Bawumia’s two-day campaign tour of the region.
Speaking on behalf of his colleagues on Wednesday, September 24, Achiase MP Kofi Ahenkorah Marfo said Dr. Bawumia had the experience, vision, and credibility needed to secure victory for the NPP.
“We believe Dr. Bawumia possesses the right credentials to lead our party to victory in 2028,” Mr. Marfo stated.

Dr. Bawumia is seeking the NPP’s flagbearer slot against other high-profile contenders, including former General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong, former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, Abetifi MP Bryan Acheampong, and former Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum.
