A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Addai Nimo, has argued that Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, is unfit to contest for the position of National Chairman.
According to him, Wontumi lacks the moral authority to vie for the role, particularly after failing to deliver on his promise of securing all 47 parliamentary seats in the Ashanti Region.
He added that Wontumi should have stepped down by now, describing his performance in the 2024 elections as a complete failure.
“You, Wontumi, promised to secure all 47 seats in the Ashanti region, or you’ll resign. However, when you were unable to secure the 47 seats, you did not resign, but you want to contest for the National Chairman position,” he told UTV
He continued, “What’s even more worrying is the fact that the NDC now has 7 seats in the Ashanti Region. You are not shy about this failure, but you are in a race for the National Chairman. This is shameful.”
