The Ghana Gold Board has launched a manhunt for four individuals over alleged criminal activities. According to the institution, the four wanted individuals include two Ghanaians and two Indian nationals.
The wanted individuals are:
1. Muhammed Nandoli Rafeeq (Indian national)
2. Muhammed Afsal Puthalan (Indian national)
3. Abdul Karim (Ghanaian national)
4. Sadique Abubakari (Ghanaian national)
The individuals are reportedly wanted for alleged offences ranging from gold smuggling and illegal gold trading, among other related crimes.
According to the Gold Board, Muhammed Nandoli Rafeeg, also known as Salam, is believed to be hiding in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The GoldBod posters bearing the pictures of the individuals disclosed that “The above-named person is wanted by the Ghana Police Service and Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) for the alleged offences of gold smuggling, illegal gold trading, among others.”
The other three individuals are reportedly believed to be hiding in locations including Ashaiman and Amrahia, as well as in neighbouring countries such as Togo and Côte d’Ivoire.
The Gold Board has announced a reward of GH¢1,000,000 for each individual, totalling GH¢4,000,000 for all four persons, for anyone who assists them and the Ghana Police Service in apprehending the suspects.
A notice from the GoldBod reads: “Any person(s) with information on the whereabouts of the said individuals should contact the nearest Police Station and/or the GoldBod Head Office located at 1 Thorpe Road, Accra – High Street (former Bank of Ghana Head Office). REWARD: GH¢1,000,000.”
