The Tema Community 1 District Police have arrested four men after uncovering 315 compressed parcels of substances suspected to be Indian hemp concealed inside the tyres of a truck.
The suspects — Nura Sali, 44; Pius Chukwuma, 49; Mustapha Umar, 18; and Abdulai Amayau, 23 — were arrested on Monday, September 8, 2025, following an intelligence-led operation.
In a statement signed by ASP Dede Dzakpasu, Head of Public Affairs at the Tema Regional Police Command, authorities confirmed that the truck, with registration number GN 7291-16, has been impounded, while the suspects remain in custody pending further investigations.
“The Regional Police Command commends the arresting officers for their professionalism and reiterates its resolve to combat drug-related offences in order to safeguard our communities,” the statement said.
The Command further appealed to the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station for prompt action.
