A fatal accident on the Obuasi–Dunkwa highway has left one person dead and several others injured.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, September 9, near Sanso Junction, when a Kia truck (registration number AS 1434-17), driven by 31-year-old Yahaya Abdul Samed, veered into the opposite lane and collided head-on with a Mercedes Benz Sprinter bus (registration number AS 3789-21).
The bus, driven by 32-year-old Ibrahim Yusif, was traveling from Obuasi to Dunkwa with 23 passengers on board.
The impact of the crash caused multiple injuries. The wounded passengers were rushed to the Obuasi Government Hospital and the AGA Health Foundation Hospital for treatment.
Unfortunately, 62-year-old Mary Boatemaa, a passenger on the Sprinter bus, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body has since been deposited at the Obuasi Government Hospital mortuary.
Police say investigations are underway to establish the exact cause of the accident.
