The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye, on charges of offensive conduct likely to breach the public peace.
In a statement issued on Monday, September 8, the Police said the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was taken into custody earlier in the day and is currently being held.
While the Police did not provide full details of the incident that led to his arrest, the development comes at a time when the outspoken politician has been under heightened public scrutiny. Authorities indicated that Abronye will be arraigned in court in the coming days.
Meanwhile, reports confirm that Abronye has petitioned several foreign embassies—including those of Côte d’Ivoire, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and Canada—seeking political asylum.
