The Honourable Deputy Minister of Education – Basic and Secondary Education, has called on parents/ guardians to remain resolute in their quest to ensure their children/ wards educational journey becomes a success, even in this period of COVID-19 and accompanying technological learning methods introduced.

He was optimistic that the newly introduced e-Learning and i-Campus methods of teaching would go a long way to ameliorate the standards these trial times.

In an on-phone interview with Oyerepa Breakfast Show on Oyerepa FM, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum expressed that whatever they are doing is based on how things have turned out, with regards to the COVID-19 Pandemic. A new decision would be based on the Pandemic being eliminated or decreasing in cases.

He explained electronic-Learning (e-Learning) as one staying in the comfort of where he/ she finds him/ herself without the supervision of an authority, either on Television/ Computer. He stated that currently on DSTV Channel 315 is freely offering electronic tuition, while i-Campus is an offer for those in the various High schools. He was definite these technological means will help advance the educational journey in Ghana this period.

“Currently, the world has advanced technology to the extent that every country needs to improve in terms of education to catch up…. Green Economy has helped reduce traffic and improved daily activities in most institutions, ” the Honourable MP for Bosomtwe Constituency told Oyerepa Breakfast Show.

He indicated that arrangements to advance the i-Campus to further recognize it going forward as ones assessment has not yet been put in place, in due time it would. He also stated that the e-Learning comes at no charge and so then pleaded with parents/ guardians to encourage their children/ wards to partake in the current electronic learning means to their advantage.

Dr. Osei Adutwum advised, “Parents should do well to be part of the e-Learning, probably sit behind their children during the time, monitor and encourage them as well.”

He again advised that everyone adhere to the social protocols – use of nose masks, hand sanitizing, social distancing, washing of hands with soap and under running water.

As it stands, Denmark is the only country which has made provisions for its educational facilities to begin operations.
