Traditional leaders (Nananom) of Senya Bereku in the Awutu Senya West District are raising concerns over a possible clash during the upcoming Senya Bereku Akumase Festival, citing a long-standing chieftaincy dispute in the area.
They are calling on the government and security agencies to heighten security measures before and during the festival to prevent any bloodshed.
Speaking at a press conference, the leader of the two Asafo Companies, Okyeame Kofi Annan, urged the Chieftaincy Ministry, the government, and the security services to swiftly intervene to avert potential violence during the celebration.
Meanwhile, other traditional leaders in Senya Bereku have appealed for lasting peace in the community. They also encouraged residents and indigenes attending this year’s festival to refrain from acts that could lead to conflict, ensuring a peaceful and successful celebration.
