Awentami Paul Afoko has extended his heartfelt condolences to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, following the passing of the Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, on August 11, 2025. Her death comes as Asanteman mourns a string of significant losses in recent weeks.
Mr. Afoko noted that the demise of the revered queen mother follows the passing of two prominent chiefs and a linguist, marking a particularly heavy emotional toll on the Asantehene, who has lost his only surviving sister and traditional mother.
Reflecting on his personal connection to the Ashanti Kingdom, Afoko recalled the honour he received earlier this year when the Asantehene dispatched a high-level delegation to represent him at the funeral of Afoko’s late father in Sandema, Upper East Region.
He joined politicians, business leaders, clergy, traditional rulers, imams, and citizens across the country in paying tribute to the Asantehene’s enduring leadership and invaluable service to the nation.
Concluding his message, Afoko expressed his sympathy in the traditional Akan farewell: “Nana Otumfuo, me ma wo due, due ne amanehunu. Due Damirifa Due.”
