Two people, including a church elder, have died in an accident involving members of the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church at Bechem in the Bono Region.
Several others, including children, are in critical condition following the crash, which occurred on Sunday, August 10, 2025.
The victims were returning from a camp meeting in Kumasi in two separate vehicles when the accident happened.
According to Jackson Damboyi of Adom News’ affiliate, After 2 Radio, the church members were close to Bechem when the crash occurred at Aburaso.
The tyre of the Stanbic bus they were travelling in reportedly burst while the driver was navigating a curve, leading to the instant death of the two passengers in the front seat.
The vehicle somersaulted, leaving the front section badly mangled.
The injured were rushed to the Adugyama Hospital, while a mother who broke her neck and her son, who sustained a severe head injury, were transferred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
This tragedy comes just weeks after 16 members of the Obogu Saviour Church Youth Ministry in Asante Akyem were killed in a separate accident on the Juaso-Nkawkaw road while returning from an event.
