3 burnt to death in Motorbike collision at Manso Watreso
Tragedy struck at Manso Watreso in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region on Monday when a head-on collision between two motorbikes resulted in a deadly fire that claimed the lives of three individuals.
Eyewitnesses reported that the accident occurred when two speeding motorbikes—one carrying two riders and the other a single rider—crashed into each other, causing both bikes to immediately burst into flames.
Bystanders attempted to rescue the victims and extinguish the fire, but their efforts proved futile. Emergency personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service and the police later arrived at the scene and successfully doused the flames.
According to Kofi Mensah, Assembly Member for the Manso Watreso Electoral Area, one person died instantly, while the remaining two were rushed to a nearby hospital but sadly succumbed to their injuries.
Speaking to Channel One News on Tuesday, August 5, Mr. Mensah revealed that preliminary investigations suggest one of the motorbikes was carrying fuel, which may have ignited the fire upon impact.
“The explosion is believed to have been triggered by the fuel being transported by one of the riders,” he said.
Police have yet to confirm the identities of the deceased as investigations continue. The charred remains have been deposited at the St. Martin’s Hospital morgue in Agroyesum.
