The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Ghana’s Upper East Region has taken disciplinary action against 16 members from the Tempane and Pusiga constituencies over serious breaches of party conduct during and after the 2024 general elections.
The individuals, including key constituency executives, were found guilty of various offences such as financial mismanagement, sabotage, and openly campaigning against NPP candidates. The sanctions followed investigations and hearings conducted by the Regional Disciplinary Committee in March 2025.
Among those penalised are Tempane’s First Vice Chairman, Musah Awudu, and Constituency Treasurer, Jacob Akazusah, who was cited for misappropriating party funds.
While five members were cleared of any wrongdoing, the remaining individuals have received stiff penalties, including removal from office and bans from holding any party positions for up to five years.
According to party officials, the sanctions—carried out in line with Article 4 of the NPP Constitution—are intended to restore internal discipline, uphold party values, and strengthen unity ahead of future elections.
