The Member of Parliament for Ejisu, Lawyer Kwabena Boateng, has made a passionate appeal to the government, through the Ministry of Roads and Highways, to urgently facilitate the return of road contractors to the sites.
On the floor of Parliament on Monday, July 21, 2025, the Member of Parliament indicated that the Ejisu-Onwe, Essienimpong, Kwaso, Kokobra, Ekyem, Amoa-Achiase, and Besease Jamasi roads have become traps, endangering pregnant women, traders, farmers, and school children.
He noted that communities like Ekyem, Akokoamon, and others have not seen tarred roads since Independence, adding that most of the farm produce is left in the bush to perish due to the deplorable condition of the roads.
His appeal follows a large demonstration organized by the Concerned Drivers Union of Ejisu on July 7, 2025. They complained about potholes that are causing miscarriages among pregnant women on the Ejisu-Onwe road.
Many residents along the road and drivers staged a four-hour demonstration on Monday, July 7, 2025, to protest the poor road networks, particularly from Onwe to Kwaso.
According to the MP, most of the school children in the aforementioned communities find it difficult to attend classes during the rainy season, while vehicles get stuck.
